Thanks for the Memories

Dealing with a mental health diagnosis is difficult. I know because lately I have had my share of ups and downs. It does not really matter where you are in life; the gift of life is beset with challenges and even problems. We cannot make these setbacks go away. We simply must learn to deal with them effectively.
I have had to learn that my view of life has been to believe that something magical is going to happen that will solve all of my problems. The more I mature, however, the more I realize that this is just plain false thinking. The magic in life comes from supporting each other. What we can do is learn to cope by learning to adjust to the curves that life throws our way.
All of us need to stop dreaming of what might be if things were different, and try to make our life as happy as we can with what we have. This is the true secret of success.
I have made a life altering decision. I am leaving my position as executive director on September 30, 2009. Some might argue that I am simply running from my problems, but I have a deep peace knowing that I must make changes in my life. Some say the definition of insanity is repeating the same behavior expecting a different result, and I have been doing this too long. It is time for a change.
The current vice president of Wings, Mr. Steve Puckett, will become interim executive director following my departure. Mr. Puckett has a long and successful tenure as a Board Member of Wings and has filled this position in the past. I have complete faith that he will provide the effective leadership to move Wings Across Alabama toward a bright new future.
Every organization reaches a point where change is positive. I am confidant that time has come. I would be remiss if I failed to express my gratitude for all of the love, support and encouragement that each of you have given me. Thank you! I have so many great memories.
